After undergraduate studies in Austria Michaela got her PhD in Theoretical Particle Physics from the Niels Bohr Institute at the University of Copenhagen in 2004. Following graduation she worked as a Research Associate in High Energy Physics at the University of Virginia for one and a half years. During that time her beautiful daughter Cassandra was born. While affiliated with Brookhaven National Laboratory in New York, she took some time off to care for her child. She then made her transition into Neuroscience by starting to work with Partha at CSHL in October 2006.
